The Taliban has reportedly neutralized an ISIS cell in the Badakhshan province. According to sources cited by Al Mersaad, a four-day operation led to the detention of 12 key ISIS officials. During the operation, the Taliban confiscated a cache of weapons, including 2 AK-47 rifles, explosives, and grenades. There hasn't been official confirmation of this operation at the time of reporting, Sputnik Afghanistan reported.
Additionally, Taliban media activists have reported the discovery of an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by ISIS in a mosque located in the Baharak district of Badakhshan. The IED was reportedly intended to be activated during the Juma prayer on the previous day but was fortunately discovered and rendered safe in time.
This development underscores the ongoing security challenges in Afghanistan, particularly with the presence of various armed groups, including ISIS, alongside the Taliban. The Taliban's efforts to counter these groups are crucial for maintaining stability and security in the region.
