The Uzbekistan national football team faced a defeat in a friendly match against the United States, with the match taking place on September 10 at the Citypark stadium in St. Louis, America. The final score of the match was 3:0 in favor of the United States, Uzbek Football Association (UFA) reported.
The scoring in the game commenced early when Juventus forward Timothy Weah found the net in the 4th minute. The Uzbekistan team struggled to counter the American attack, leading to two more goals being conceded during stoppage time in the second half. PSV forward Ricardo Pepi contributed to the American tally by scoring in the 90+1st minute, and Milan winger Christian Pulisic sealed the victory by converting a penalty in the 90+4th minute.
Following the match against the United States, the Uzbekistan national team is set to remain in the United States for another friendly match, this time against Mexico. The upcoming match is scheduled for September 13 in Atlanta and will kick off at 4:30 (Tashkent time).
Looking ahead, in November, the national team, under the guidance of coach Srečko Katanec, will engage in the first matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifying tournament.
These fixtures will offer the team an opportunity to compete on the international stage as they aim to secure a place in the prestigious tournament.
