A memorial dedicated to Avtandil Tskhvediani, a Kobuleti resident who lost his life while rescuing dogs during a storm, has been installed in one of the city's parks, according to a post by social media user Ruso Davitadze.
According to Sputnik Georgia, Avtandil Tskhvediani tragically passed away on August 5, 2019, at the age of 51, while saving his dogs, Jessie and Basti, who were stranded due to severe waves and strong winds. Tskhvediani ventured into the water to save them. He successfully brought one of the dogs to safety, but when he returned for the second, he was unable to make it back to shore. Remarkably, the second dog managed to reach the shore on its own, returning home several hours later.
Davitadze mentioned that a construction company had erected a monument in Avtandil Tskhvediani's honor, which is set to be unveiled to the public in the near future.
Previously, the city's administration had organized a competition to select the best design for the memorial in memory of Tskhvediani. The total cost of the memorial project is six thousand lari, equivalent to over $2.2 thousand.
