Upon the invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, accompanied by his wife, embarked on a state visit to Baku. The President was received at Heydar Aliyev Airport by Azerbaijan's First Deputy Prime Minister Yaqub Eyyubov and other officials, with an honor guard assembled in honor of the esteemed guest, Mirziyoyev's press service reports.
The visit's aim
During the forthcoming high-level meetings scheduled for August 22, the leaders of both nations have committed to further enhancing the strategic partnership and multifaceted collaboration between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. Emphasis will be placed on political, trade-economic, transport-communication, and cultural-humanitarian domains, alongside discussions concerning developmental matters.
Visit to Heydar Aliyev's last destination
Upon his arrival in Baku, Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid a visit to Fakhr Avenue, the eternal resting place of the national leader of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev. The President's press service conveyed that Heydar Aliyev's indomitable contribution to the establishment and fortification of an independent Azerbaijan remains unmatched. His legacy is intrinsically tied to a period of rapid national advancement and heightened international prestige.
Heydar Aliyev's amicable rapport with the Uzbek people is well-known and revered in Uzbekistan. The country extensively celebrated his centenary with commemorative postage stamps and an array of cultural, educational, and scientific events. This jubilee occasion also witnessed the inauguration of a street, avenue, and monument in Tashkent named after the esteemed leader.
The Alley of Martyrs
After Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his respects at Heydar Aliyev's grave, he followed to visit the Alley of Martyrs – a memorial site in Azerbaijan's capital where national heroes, who valiantly defended the country's freedom and territorial integrity, rest.
The ongoing visit program includes substantive discussions and negotiations, culminating in the anticipated adoption of bilateral agreements. Additionally, joint visits to Fuzuli and Shusha, as well as other collaborative events with both state leaders, are slated to take place.
