Central Asia aims to become a crucial link between China and Europe and a vital logistics hub by actively joining the "Belt and Road Initiative," said former Kyrgyzstan Prime Minister Joomart Otorbayev in an interview with China Daily.
Otorbayev envisions a promising future where Central Asia, historically a crucial segment of the ancient Silk Road, plays a central role in constructing a "new Silk Road," thus reasserting its place on the global map.
At the core of this vision lies the expectation that Central Asia, with its rich history of facilitating transcontinental trade, will seize the opportunity provided by the BRI to reinvigorate its connectivity, economic dynamism, and regional influence.
During a recent conversation in Beijing, the former Prime Minister expressed his optimism that Kyrgyzstan, through strategic partnerships within the framework of the BRI, particularly the establishment of an innovative railway network connecting Kyrgyzstan to China in the east and Uzbekistan in the west, will transform from a landlocked nation into a well-connected participant.
Amidst the ambitious landscape of infrastructural progress, the railway project emerges as a poignant symbol of cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan.
