In a move aimed at advancing its commitment to sustainable transportation and reducing carbon emissions, Kyrgyzstan is set to collaborate with prominent Chinese companies to acquire electric buses and establish charging infrastructure across the country. The Head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Japarov, held discussions with key executives from Chinese firms specializing in renewable energy and electric mobility during recent meetings.
Akylbek Japarov engaged in talks with Wu Gang, Chairman of the Board of Xinjiang Goldwind Science and Technology Co., a leading innovator in China's wind farm industry. The discussions resulted in a mutual agreement to explore areas for collaboration in various sectors. Among the initiatives, both parties committed to sharing information to reduce harmful emissions, fostering the training of scientific experts in the field of renewable energy sources, and facilitating the construction of wind farms.
Xinjiang Goldwind Science and Technology, boasting an annual budget of $560 mn, stands as a trailblazer in the wind farm sector with an installed generation capacity exceeding 100 gigawatts across six continents.
Additionally, Akylbek Japarov met with Lin Peng, Vice President of Gree Altairnano New Energy, a prominent name in the electric vehicle (EV) and charging systems industry. During these discussions, the matter of supplying Kyrgyzstan with electric buses, along with the establishment of requisite charging infrastructure, took center stage.
Acknowledging Kyrgyzstan's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, the Head of the Cabinet emphasized that the nation has streamlined procedures for the operation and installation of EV charging stations.
Lin Peng highlighted Gree Altairnano New Energy Inc.'s status as one of the world's top 500 companies, showcasing its expertise in EV manufacturing and charging solutions. Noting the competitive advantage of Kyrgyzstan's low electricity costs, Lin Peng expressed willingness not only to deliver the required number of electric buses but also to propose a project for establishing a local assembly plant.
The meetings concluded with both parties expressing their intent to further deliberate the proposals put forth by Lin Peng at the governmental level within Kyrgyzstan. This collaboration marks a significant stride towards promoting sustainable transportation solutions in the region and aligns with Kyrgyzstan's ambitious environmental goals.
