Recent clash between the Taliban and a detachment of Masudovites has taken place in the vicinity of the settlement Duzakh-Dara in the Shokhad district of Badakhshan. The confrontation lasted through the night until the morning of August 17, resulting in casualties on both sides, Sputnik Afghanistan reported.
The incident occurred between the Taliban, a militant group that has gained control over a significant portion of Afghanistan, and a detachment affiliated with the Masud faction. Masud forces, also known as Masudovites, are part of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF), an opposition group against the Taliban. The NRF was established to counter the Taliban's expansion and maintain control over certain regions.
Casualties
Both sides suffered casualties in the confrontation:
- Taliban's Forces: Media activists affiliated with the Taliban reported that out of a detachment of 16 individuals, six were killed in the battle, and the remaining ten were taken as prisoners.
- Masudovites (NRF Detachment): According to the same sources, four Masud soldiers were killed in the clash. Their names are mentioned as Tahir (detachment commander), Naim, Shukrulla, and Musaddyk.
Additionally, there is mention of another individual killed in the confrontation, although his identity is not confirmed. This individual resembles Sharif, who had previously left the Taliban to join the NRF's FNSA (Front for National Salvation of Afghanistan) in the Shohad district three weeks before this incident.
An organization under which the Masudovites operate, the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF), is designated as an opposition group against the Taliban. However, it is mentioned that the organization is under UN sanctions for its involvement in terrorist activities.
Earlier Daryo mentioned that the Taliban's operation in Bagram, Afghanistan, led to the removal of an ISIS member from Uzbekistan and the apprehension of a partner from Tajikistan, with the intention of preventing possible terrorist activities.
