It has been revealed that a total of 34 men in Uzbekistan were convicted for committing polygamy from 2018 to 2022 under the Article 126 of the Criminal Code. The spokesperson of the Supreme Court reported this information and stated that appropriate penalties were imposed on them.
During the first half of 2023, this number decreased to 4 individuals.
Previously, the population figures for men and women in Uzbekistan were announced. As of July 1, 2023, the total population of the country reached 36,372.3 thousand people, reflecting a 2.2% increase compared to the corresponding period in 2022.
From these figures:
- The number of women is 18,066 thousand people.
- The number of men is 18,306.3 thousand people.
The population residing in urban areas amounts to 18,557.5 thousand people, while in rural areas, it is 17,815.8 thousand people.
