On July 30, four residents from Uzbekistan's Kashkadarya region drowned in the Kattakurgan reservoir located in the Samarkand region of Uzbekistan. The press secretary of Uzbekistan's General Prosecutor's Office, Hayot Shamsutdinov, reported this tragic incident to "Gazeta.uz."
According to the information from the Kattakurgan district's Department of Internal Affairs, a group of seven people from the Chirakchinsky and Kukdalin districts had traveled to Nurabad district in Samarkand to celebrate their friend's birthday.
In the evening, they decided to go swimming at the reservoir and took a boat approximately 40 meters away from the shore. While they were on the boat, they thought of taking some photographs. Tragically, the boat overturned due to the movements of the young individuals onboard.
Out of the seven, three individuals managed to swim back to the shore, but sadly, four young adults, aged between 21 and 25, drowned in the incident. During the rescue operation, one body was recovered, while the search for the remaining missing persons continues.
