The five different regions of Uzbekistan had seen six cases of early pregnancy among schoolchildren during the first half of the year.
Azamat Kamolov, the Deputy Minister of Preschool and School Education, stated that all cases occurred outside school hours. He added that various activities are organized to prepare girls for family life, but these unfortunate incidents tend to happen more frequently during summer holidays or after school.
However, the school is not shirking its responsibility. The ministry works closely with class leaders and parents to prevent early pregnancies and childbirth among students.
The Family and Women's Committee, local neighborhood activists, and other communities are also collaborating on this initiative.
According to Usman Sharifkhojayev, the First Deputy Minister of Preschool and School Education, family education plays a crucial role in preventing such cases. He suggested it would be better for children to receive instruction from their mothers on this subject.
