President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a video selector meeting on July 28 to discuss priority tasks to prevent violations and other forms of crime in the region.
The meeting pointed out that the poor state of road safety has left people completely dissatisfied.
About 4,000 car accidents were recorded in the country between January and June of this year, resulting in 873 fatalities and over 3,500 injuries.
Road infrastructure inadequacies were responsible for 48% of these accidents.
This year alone, 1,859 incidents involving pedestrians occurred due to the lack of necessary conditions, with 334 losing their lives.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Uzbekistan registered 9,902 road accidents, 2,356 fatal road casualties, and 9,606 road traffic injuries last year.
