Wildberries, the online marketplace, reported a remarkable surge in demand for products from Uzbekistan during the first half of the year, with sales reaching $138 mn, Spot.uz has reported.
Compared to the same period last year, the demand for Uzbek goods increased by an impressive 59%. Among the top-performing categories, health products stood out with an astounding 846% growth, nearly 9.5 times more than before.
Uzbekistan's furniture followed closely with a substantial 797% increase (approximately 8-fold). Rounding up the top three was the category of kitchen utensils, recording a notable 624% growth rate.
Furthermore, the sales of several other product categories also experienced significant growth on Wildberries:
- Home appliances (+398%)
- Craft supplies (+342%)
- Household items (+316%)
- Cosmetics and perfumes (+230%)
- TVs and audio equipment (+220%)
- Home products (+207%)
- Books (+146%)
- Groceries (+108%)
However, the most sought-after products among the platform's users were clothing items from Uzbekistan, comprising two-thirds of the overall sales figure.
The demand for home goods and lingerie also made it to the list of top categories. The commencement of operations at the sorting center in May facilitated the efficient handling of local product deliveries.
Over the past year, the number of local entrepreneurs registered on Wildberries increased by 1.5 times. The platform's support program for aspiring sellers and webinars introducing them to the marketplace contributed to this growth.
Moreover, the number of order pickup points (OPP) has also expanded to 69, with the company incentivizing the opening of partner locations through tariff increases.
Since the beginning of the year, most OPPs also started accepting goods from sellers, resulting in a 2.5-fold acceleration of nationwide order deliveries and simultaneous cost reductions for entrepreneurs in logistics, as reported by the company.
