Uzbekistan's Embassy in Warsaw has facilitated virtual discussions between the management of Polskibazalt and Mennicametale, both of which are subsidiaries of Bazalt Nolding, a Polish company, and Basalt Uzbekistan, to explore opportunities for exporting composite building materials, particularly basalt, from Uzbekistan to Poland, Dunyo reports.
The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Poland-Uzbekistan, Janusz Piechociński, a former Deputy Prime Minister of Poland and Minister of Economy, also attended the event on the Polish side.
Uzbekistan's delegation revealed that the country has the capacity to export 136,000 tons of basalt wool, 15,000 tons of roving, 5,000 tons of armature, 2,000 tons of fiberglass, and 10mn cubic meters of geogrid annually. Currently, only ten companies in the world produce basalt-based building materials.
Polish business people estimated that the potential volume of exports of basalt products and materials to Poland could reach up to $50mn per year if the parties come to an agreement.
The meeting concluded with agreements to prepare relevant commercial proposals, organize a visit by a Polish delegation to Uzbekistan, and sign a cooperation agreement between Bazalt Nolding and Basalt Uzbekistan.
