Officials from the Embassy of Uzbekistan recently met with Jaime Montalvo, Chairman of the International Department of the Chamber of Commerce of Spain and Industry, to discuss ways to strengthen trade and economic ties between the two nations, Dunyo reports.
The meeting explored the possibility of establishing a Business Council, consisting of leading companies from both nations, to develop joint projects. The projects would be implemented using concessional loan facilities provided by the Spanish Government, as per the Agreement "On Mechanisms of Economic and Financial Cooperation" inked earlier this year.
Montalvo expressed interest in implementing joint projects in Uzbekistan, with the allocation of preferential credit funds to provide ample opportunities.
The Spanish side noted that they had formed business councils with over 25 countries worldwide, with seven of the most active boards still in existence.
Due to Uzbekistan's attractive trade and investment potential, the Chamber of Commerce of Spain suggested the establishment of an inter-state business council.
A meeting is scheduled for 4Q2023, with representatives from relevant ministries and departments of both countries in attendance.
