In particular, 306 blood samples were sent to the virology laboratory from patients suspected of having measles, with 164 citizens testing positive.
The Committee notes that measles cases in the Central Asian country are mainly detected among those who have been in contact with measles patients abroad.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the number of measles cases worldwide and in the European Region increased in 2023 due to many people refusing to vaccinate.
Measles cases have been reported in Ukraine (23,070), Serbia (4,954), France (2,576), Greece (2,476), Italy (2,020), Russia (1,396), Georgia (1,128), Afghanistan (2,105), Tajikistan (300+), and Kazakhstan (169).
