Bangladesh has recorded 889 dengue cases in the past 24 hours, the highest number of cases reported in a single day since January, media reports.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 574 cases were diagnosed in Dhaka on Monday.
This year, the total number of dengue cases in Bangladesh has risen to 13,843, with three new deaths reported in the same period.
In July alone, 4,976 new cases have been recorded, following 5,956 cases in June. From January 1 to July 9, 10,131 patients have been treated and released from nationwide hospitals. This surge highlights the increasing prevalence of dengue fever in the capital city of Bangladesh during the monsoon season from June to September.
Bangladesh is considered a high-risk nation for mosquito-borne diseases.
