In the first half of 2023, mutual trade between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan totaled $438.2mn, 1.5% more than a year earlier, according to the Statistics Agency under the Uzbek president.
Uzbekistan imported $358.2mn worth of goods from Turkmenistan and exported $80.5mn worth of goods to that country.
Turkmenistan has ranked eighth among Uzbekistan's trading partners since the beginning of the year. China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, South Korea, Germany and Kyrgyzstan top the list.
Uzbekistan in recent years has switched to direct energy purchases from Turkmenistan. Last year, trade between the neighboring countries reached $926.3mn, five times more than in 2017.
