Turkmenistan has offered to host the first Investment Forum of Central Asia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in 2024, local TV channel Altyn Asyr reports.
This was announced by Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in his speech at the summit, which was held the day before in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).
"There are great prospects for investment partnership. Turkmenistan is always open to co-operation on the implementation of investment projects in priority sectors of the economy."
Berdimuhamedov noted that today there is a complicated international and political situation in various regions. "This circumstance requires us to consolidate our efforts and adequately respond to the existing global challenges and threats."
In this regard, he proposed to create a permanent mechanism - the Conference of Foreign Ministers of Central Asia and the GCC.
Among the urgent tasks is intensifying trade and economic partnership, with transport, energy, investment and trade as priorities.
Berdimuhamedov believes that at the current stage it is important to form new transport and transit corridors, stable and reliable logistics infrastructure and create a common chamber of commerce.
The Turkmen president also noted that two regions have rich energy sources, fuel and energy resources and powerful production capacities for their processing.
"We propose to form a Joint Working Group on Energy, the function of which will be to analyse the potential for collective activity in the energy sector and provide advice," he said.
