People’s Artist of Uzbekistan Tolib Karimov died aged 83 on July 19, the county’s National Academic Drama Theatre has reported.
Tolib Karimov was born on February 7, 1940, in Tashkent. In 1961 he graduated from the Tashkent Theatre and Art Institute.
In the same year, he began working as an artist at the Kokand Theatre and, two years later - at the current Uzbek National Academic Drama Theatre.
Tolib Karimov played various roles on the stage in hundreds of plays, including Mirzo Ulugbek, Alisher Navoi, Sultan Edip, and many others.
In 1987, Tolib Karimov received the People’s Artist of Uzbekistan title. In 1997 he was awarded the 'Mehnat Shukhrati' order.
