Uzbekistan has expressed its intention to develop "halal" tourism, focusing on catering to the needs of Muslim travellers. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism's Tourism Services Certification Center has signed a memorandum with the World Halal Trust Group and the International Halal Certification Center MAIB to collaborate in this endeavour. The memorandum outlines various areas of cooperation aimed at advancing halal tourism.
The parties involved will engage in joint research at different levels to address issues related to halal tourism. This research will likely encompass aspects such as halal food and beverage services, accommodation facilities, and other tourism-related services. One significant aspect outlined in the memorandum is the introduction of certification for hotels to ensure compliance with halal tourism standards. This step aims to provide Muslim travellers with reliable and trustworthy options that align with their dietary and lifestyle preferences.
Furthermore, the memorandum includes provisions for the development and implementation of joint training programs in the field of halal tourism. This indicates a commitment to enhancing the knowledge and skills of tourism professionals in Uzbekistan to cater effectively to the specific requirements of Muslim tourists.
