Nazarmyrat Nazarmyradov has been appointed Turkmenistan's Minister of Agriculture, local TV channel Miras reports.
The former head of the industry, Allanur Altyev, was dismissed by presidential decree for serious shortcomings in his work. The heads of Akhal, Mary and Lebap regions were dismissed on similar terms.
Nyyazly Nyyazlyev, who headed the Turkmenkhimiya State Concern responsible for the production of mineral fertilisers, was also fired. Dovrangeldy Sapbayev was appointed to the post.
Local media previously reported that President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was dissatisfied with the progress of ongoing agro-technical works at a working meeting.
Turkmenistan is now harvesting grain crops - 1.4mn tonnes of wheat are to be harvested. Mineral fertilizers are being applied to cotton fields, more 1mn tonnes are to be harvested. The country is also harvesting potatoes and sowing rice.
