In one of the garages in Samara,Russia an illegal morgue was discovered, where the bodies of the deceased were stored in regular store refrigerators labeled "chilled meat" and "frozen." This revelation was shared by local blogger Ksenia Shtefan in her Telegram channel, RTVI has reported.
She also posted a video showing that the refrigeration equipment had glass doors with a piece of cardboard placed on them, presumably to prevent direct sunlight, as suggested by the blogger. Inside the refrigerator, Shte fan found the bodies of elderly men and women stacked on top of each other, severely frozen.
"The bodies of the deceased should be stored in specialized refrigerators, and here, all sanitary and moral norms have been violated."
The footage also reveals a significant number of wreaths, crosses, coffins, and tombstones arranged in the garage.
All information has already been handed over to the police of Russia for further investigation. The blogger believes that one of the local funeral companies set up the illegal morgue in the garage to avoid paying official morgues for the storage of deceased bodies.
According to Shtefan, she has learned about three other "private morgues" in the city. She demanded that law enforcement authorities conduct an investigation into the presence of illegal morgues in Samara.
The blogger mentioned that she has already discussed the situation with Dmitry Azarov, the governor of the Samara region.
"The regional leader has asked questions, carefully examined the situation. I am pleasantly surprised that he is personally aware of many events. He is also outraged by what happened today. Dmitry Igorevich has already instructed responsible individuals to investigate the situation and keep it under control."
Following the publication of the video from the private morgue, the personnel of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Samara region initiated an inspection. They promised to investigate the situation and take necessary procedural measures.
In mid-October 2022, Alexander Bastrykin, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, ordered a procedural check following reports of an illegally operating morgue in a mobile unit in western Moscow. Local residents had reported the presence of a black container in the industrial zone on Rublevka, where human bodies were being taken.
The story was covered by the NTV television channel. Moscow residents provided video footage showing an inconspicuous vehicle without identification marks entering the industrial zone, unloading a stretcher with a deceased body, and carrying it into the container-mobile unit.
As reported by the Investigative Committee, the residents requested clarification on the situation.
"During the broadcast, it was mentioned that the bodies of the deceased were being embalmed in the container. There were also references to possible corruption involving medical workers, police officers, and funeral service employees," the statement from the agency stated.
