An expert group meeting for refining and coordinating the draft document was held on July 12-13 at the headquarters of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Armenia, Sputnik Armenia has reported.
The CIS Executive Committee's press service reported that the CIS countries are working on a draft agreement to strengthen border security at external borders.
The additional meeting of the expert group focused on refining and coordinating the Agreement on the Organization and Conduct of Joint Exercises of Border and other Agencies of CIS countries to address crisis situations at external borders.
The objective of the document is to prepare the management bodies and formations of border and other agencies included in the grouping, in accordance with national interaction plans, for joint actions in the event of crisis situations at the external borders of the CIS.
Representatives and experts from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia participated in the event through video conference. Following the final coordination, the document is expected to be submitted to the Council of Heads of State of the CIS for consideration.
