Ashgabat hosted a meeting of the Interministerial Working Group on the development of hydrogen energy in Turkmenistan, a local "Oil-Gas" publication reports.
The participants of the meeting discussed the Roadmap for the development of international cooperation in this field, noting the need for interaction with organisations such as the UN, OSCE, EU, ADB, as well as with such states as the UK, the US and Japan.
The country is working to create a highly productive industry based on modern technologies and provided with qualified specialists, the information said.
Local experts told Daryo that the country is now actively working to attract foreign investment in this industry. In addition, a Hydrogen Energy Centre is planned to be opened in the Turkmen capital.
The main energy source for hydrogen production, which is used in the chemical industry, metallurgy, mechanical engineering and microelectronics, is natural gas, which Turkmenistan is so rich in.
