Turkmenistan's president Serdar Berdimuhamedov has instructed to increase the efficiency of geological exploration, a local oil-gas publication reports. The issue was discussed at a government meeting with the participation of Vice-Premier Batyr Amanov, who oversees the country's fuel and energy complex.
The agenda includes improvement of material and technical base of the State Corporation "Turkmengeology".
The information says that the head of state also demanded to continue accelerated industrial development of new promising sources and to ensure modernisation of infrastructure on an innovative basis, introducing resource-saving technologies.
Turkmenistan is located to the world's largest onshore gas field Galkynysh, whose reserves are estimated at 27.4tn cubic metres. The state corporation said that more than 30 hydrocarbon fields and new deposits have been discovered in Turkmenistan in recent years.

The corporation is searching for hydrocarbons not only on land in Turkmenistan, but also in the national sector of the Caspian Sea. This, in turn, increases the attractiveness of foreign investment in the development of promising licence blocks.
The Corporation intends to increase the volume of 3D field seismic surveys and is focused on finding oil fields, especially in Miocene deposits in the south-west of the country and Jurassic-Cretaceous deposits in the central part of the country.
Specialists note that at great depths it is often necessary to work in difficult mining and geological conditions. "The solution of tasks on opening and development of deep-lying horizons is unthinkable without wide implementation of modern achievements of science and technology".
