President Joe Biden confirms that Washington has eliminated the remnants of its chemical weapons stockpiles.
"For over 30 years, the United States has tirelessly worked to destroy its chemical weapons stockpiles. Today, I am proud to announce that the U.S. has safely destroyed the last munitions from these stockpiles," the statement reads. He also called on all countries to join the Chemical Weapons Convention.
In 2020, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan signed the Law "On the accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Protocol on the Prohibition of the Use in War of Asphyxiating, Poisonous or Other Gases, and of Bacteriological Methods of Warfare."
This protocol is a document that confirms and complements the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling, and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction.
