Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu expressed his hope that "German military forces will be stationed permanently in Romania as soon as possible." He made this statement during a working visit to Germany on July 4, during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, TASS has reported.
"I believe that there should be permanent German troops in Romania, and I hope that we, together with Chancellor Scholz, will make the necessary decisions as quickly as possible," emphasized the head of the Romanian government.
Regarding the military actions in Ukraine, Ciolacu expressed his conviction that "this will be a protracted conflict."
"Moreover, we all expected that perhaps the conflict would end with this offensive by Ukraine. But we all know that it is impossible. Publicly available data may not be so encouraging. I believe that the situation on the theater of military operations looks quite different at this moment" said Prime Minister.
