After a week of silence, Russian warlord Yevgeny Prigozhin resurfaced, expressing gratitude to his supporters through a voice message, Politico reports.
In the 41-second recording posted on Telegram, Prigozhin, leader of the Wagner mercenary army, stated that their "March of Justice" aimed to combat traitors and unite society, assuring future victories. Prigozhin's reputation drastically shifted from a folk hero to a public enemy in Russia following his 36-hour armed uprising.
He seized Rostov-on-Don and advanced within 200km of Moscow but ultimately retreated when President Vladimir Putin denounced the rebellion as a betrayal. Prigozhin obtained judicial leniency through a deal brokered by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko, resulting in exile for him and his men.
In his previous Telegram statement on June 26, he ordered his men back to base to prevent further bloodshed and rejected accusations of attempting a coup. Lukashenko confirmed Prigozhin's arrival in Belarus, although his current location remains unknown. Furthermore, he has been stripped of his Russian media assets.
The Grey Zone Telegram channel, known for its sympathy towards Prigozhin, shared his latest voice message.
