The International Labour Organisation (ILO) technical commission monitored the implementation of roadmap activities in Turkmenistan, the local UN office tweeted.

Turkmenistan ratified the Convention on Employment Policy in 2021, which commits states to promoting full, productive and freely chosen employment.
A year later, the ILO prepared a "Review of Legislation on the Prevention and Prohibition of Forced Labour" for Turkmenistan. A press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported that internal discussions were ongoing.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), cotton is an important component of the local economy and a source of livelihood for thousands of farmers and workers.
