The new city of Arkadag, 30km from the Turkmen capital, has opened the Aba Annayev International Academy of Horse Breeding and the Gerogly Horse Circus, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports.
Turkmenistan is homeland of the oldest purebred Akhal-Teke horse breed. The article said the academy was named after the famous seyis (trainer) who created the breeding lines of the legendary horses.

The new institute will provide a base for the development of equestrian sports and tourism, circus arts, riding skills and national equestrian games. A horse breeding research and production centre and the State Equestrian Circus named after Gerogly have been built next to the academy.
These complexes will serve as venues for forums, exhibitions and other events, creating a platform for international cooperation.
Symbolically, one of the striking landmarks of Arkadag is the monument "Ak-han" (White Khan), which perpetuates the image of the Akhalteke stallion entered in the Guinness Book of World Records.
