Türkiye is taking active measures to combat illegal international migration and mitigate the risk of a humanitarian crisis, the press service of the country's embassy in Uzbekistan reported on July 3.
Specifically, Türkiye is providing ongoing aid to those affected by the situation in the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas.
Recent reports indicate that the Turkish Coast Guard saved hundreds of lives when rubber boats approached the Canak Castle and Izmir coast.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Coast Guard Command, over 400 illegal migrants were rescued in the Aegean Sea last week alone.
During the period spanning from January 1 to May 31, there were a total of 8,678 instances where individuals who entered the country illegally were returned to Turkish territorial waters and subsequently disembarked in the Aegean Sea, the report reads.
