On July 1, a ceremony was held in the Turkish province of Hatay to hand over 57 modular houses to its residents. These houses were acquired and furnished with the funds provided by Uzbek citizens, including those working in Turkey, Dunyo reports.
The event was attended by the mayor of the Antakya district, İzzettin Yılmaz, leaders of political party branches, representatives of district law enforcement agencies, as well as officials from the Uzbekistan Embassy and Consulate General in Turkey.
During the ceremony, Uzbek diplomats once again expressed deep condolences to the fraternal Turkish people, who experienced the "disaster of the century" on February 6 of this year. It was noted that from the first day of the tragedy, the Uzbek people have been providing assistance to their Turkish brothers, and the delivery of these containers, which serve as temporary housing before the construction of permanent homes, on the eve of the sacred holiday of Eid al-Adha, reaffirms our blood unity.
Special attention was given to the initiatives of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev aimed at the reconstruction of the Hatay province, including the construction of new houses and other infrastructure facilities, which will further symbolize our close friendship and solidarity.
The mayor of the Antakya district, İzzettin Yılmaz, emphasized that the Turkish people will never forget the assistance provided by Uzbekistan from the first hours of the tragedy. He emphasized that Uzbek rescuers and military doctors, risking their lives and working in the most difficult conditions, showed high heroism, courage, and professionalism in providing comprehensive assistance to the affected and injured.
During the event, our diplomats answered questions from the residents of the Ovakent district, who are ethnic Uzbeks, and informed them about the large-scale reforms in the republic, the results of the constitutional referendum, and the upcoming presidential elections in Uzbekistan.
The event in the Hatay province received wide coverage in local media and received a significant amount of positive feedback on social networks.
