Google is set to introduce an updated look for the Android logo, including changes to the spelling of the Android name and the design of its mascot. The modifications will take effect with the upcoming release of the next version of the mobile operating system, 9to5google reports.
Starting from Android 14, the operating system's name will begin with an uppercase letter instead of a lowercase one. Additionally, Google will replace the current flat Android logo, represented by a green robot, with a more three-dimensional design. The previous alteration to the OS logo occurred back in 2019.
Despite the updated logo not being unveiled until the autumn of 2023, Google has been teasing this event for several months. The voluminous head of the robot has made appearances at CES 2023, the Google I/O 2023 conference, and even in promotional materials for Samsung Galaxy S 23 and Z Flip 4.
It is anticipated that the new Android logo will be displayed during smartphone startup sequences, replacing the existing design accompanied by the phrase 'Powered by Android' that users currently see.
