President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan held a productive meeting with Nurlanbek Shakiev, the Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of the Kyrgyz Republic, to discuss the enhancement of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, Astana Times reported. The meeting, which took place on June 26, aimed to strengthen the existing ties between the two nations and explore avenues for further collaboration.
President Tokayev emphasized the significance of fostering relations with the Kyrgyz Republic and advancing interparliamentary connections. He described Kyrgyzstan as a valuable neighbor, a fraternal state, and a strategic partner of Kazakhstan.
The leaders of both countries have set a target to achieve $2bn in bilateral trade, highlighting their commitment to expanding economic interactions.
The President acknowledged the dynamic growth of Kazakh-Kyrgyz relations, which have been facilitated by cooperation at both the intergovernmental and interparliamentary levels. He expressed confidence that the agreements reached during the meeting would contribute to the multifaceted cooperation between the two nations. President Tokayev affirmed Kazakhstan's unwavering dedication to the comprehensive development of allied relations with the Kyrgyz Republic.
In response, Chairman Shakiev expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him. He conveyed greetings from President Sadyr Zhaparov of the Kyrgyz Republic. Shakiev emphasized that Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic share a close bond in all aspects, and their comprehensive cooperation, based on mutual understanding and support, continues to deepen.
Furthermore, Chairman Shakiev expressed support for the ongoing reforms in Kazakhstan. This gesture underscores the mutual respect and admiration that exist between the two countries, as they strive to strengthen their economic ties and promote regional stability.
