Armenian lawyers have decided to boycott all court sessions on June 26, International Day in Support of Torture Victims, Sputnik Middle East reports.
In Armenia, on February 21, severe violations have been documented in the neuro-psychological institution housing 450 individuals with mental health issues. The reported abuses include torture, cruel treatment, and exploitation of residents at the Vardenis Neuro-Psychological Home-Internat.
June 26 marks the International Day in Support of Torture Victims, commemorating the day when the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman, or Degrading Treatment or Punishment came into force in 1987. Currently, the Convention has been ratified by 173 countries worldwide.
