In an interview with The Jerusalem Post, Olena Zelenska, the wife of the President of Ukraine, shared that she and her husband live separately due to her occupation and security concerns during the ongoing war.
She explained that she goes to her office every day to work while her husband, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stays overnight at the office for security reasons. Olena emphasized that their busy schedules make it challenging for them to spend leisure time together.
Olena Zelenska also mentioned that their office is actively engaged in various projects, such as mental health programs, improving the quality of school lunches, and providing assistance to victims of domestic violence. As the First Lady, she conducts interviews, phone calls, and video conferences as part of her duties.
Olena Zelenska's personal background reveals that she was born in February 1978 in Kryvyi Rih. She and her future husband, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, attended the same gymnasium in parallel classes but started their relationship later when Yelena was a student at the Civil Engineering University and Volodymyr Zelenskyy was pursuing a law degree. They dated for eight years before getting married in 2003 and have two children named Olexandra (born July 15, 2004) and Kyrylo (born January 21, 2013).
Before the war in Ukraine, Olena Zelenska had a limited public presence. However, since February 2022, she has been able to meet with numerous Western politicians and their spouses, including a meeting with the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in September.
