Sherzod Asadov, the Press Secretary of the President, spoke about the conclusions of Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Iran. This visit is the first official visit of a president of Uzbekistan to Iran in 21 years of relations between the two nations.
During the visit, several important agreements were signed between Uzbekistan and Iran, marking a significant step forward in their bilateral relations. The agreements covered a wide range of bilateral relations, from political to cultural and humanitarian connections, and new possible perspectives. These agreements are expected to boost economic cooperation and strengthen contacts between the two nations.
"Our President's official visit is the first official visit to Iran by the President within 21 years of Uzbekistan-Iran relations. It is important to emphasize that the discussions between the two leaders, as well as with the high religious leader of Iran, covered a broad spectrum of bilateral relations, from politics to cultural and humanitarian connections, and new perspectives were identified” Sherzod Asadov stated.
Furthermore, the leaders of Uzbekistan and Iran addressed regional security issues and the evolving situation in Afghanistan. Given the shared border with Afghanistan, both countries have a vested interest in maintaining stability in the region. The discussions focused on ways to enhance cooperation and address common challenges.
In recent years, Uzbekistan has undertaken significant economic reforms, attracting foreign investments and expanding its international trade relations. The visit to Iran presented an ideal platform to showcase Uzbekistan's economic potential and explore new avenues for trade and investment between the two countries. The business communities of Uzbekistan and Iran actively participated in the discussions, expressing their commitment to further deepen economic ties.
"As for the economic sector, great strides have been made in the last 2-3 years. In this regard, it is necessary to emphasize the activity of the business circles of the two countries," Sherzod Asadov noted.
