The government of Uzbekistan intends to boost its support of the beekeeping network and encourage the pollination of agricultural crops using bees.
The decision, titled 'On additional measures to support the beekeeping network and pollination of agricultural crops with bees' (No. 239, 12.06.2023), aims to implement a cotton bee pollination technique in 2023, covering an area of 200,000 hectares, with the aim of increasing cotton production. With this in mind, the government plans to establish industrial beekeeping centers in different parts of the country, following the examples of other regions counting Kashkadarya, Navoi, Samarkand, Surkhandarya, and Tashkent.
By 2024, the Central Asian country intends to use bee pollination methods in intensive orchards. In addition, Uzbekistan is considering adding honey products to the daily diet of preschool children and hospital patients starting September 1, 2023.
Every year from December 1-10, Uzbekistan will host the 'Honey Festival' and 'Beekeeping Products' international exhibition in Tashkent. The government will ensure the ongoing participation of beekeeping organizations in exhibitions and conferences organized by the 'Apimondia' Federation of International Beekeeping Associations.
Lastly, the government will provide training courses on applying bee pollination techniques in cotton fields and fruit orchards as part of the 'School of Farmers' program.
