The press service of "Real Madrid" has confirmed that Karim Benzema, the striker of the team, will be leaving the club. The contract between the parties was mutually terminated, and the club wished Benzema success in his future endeavors.
There were previous reports of an offer from Saudi Arabia's "Al-Ittihad" club, which proposed a two-year contract worth €200mn to Benzema.
Having started his career at "Olympique Lyonnais," Benzema joined "Real Madrid" in 2009. During his 14-year tenure at the club, the French player accumulated 25 accolades, including 5 Champions League trophies and 4 La Liga titles. In 2022, he was honored with the Ballon d'Or award.
Benzema made 647 appearances for Madrid, scoring an impressive 353 goals. Only Cristiano Ronaldo (450) has scored more goals in the history of the team.
In the current season, Benzema played 42 games across various competitions, finding the back of the net 30 times.
"Real Madrid" previously announced the departures of Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard, and Mariano Diaz.
