On May 18, a trilateral document was inked in Xi'an between China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, outlining further steps in the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project.
The document aims to enhance interregional ties and the region's competitiveness as an international transport and transit hub.
The railway will span 454 km, with 280 km passing through Kyrgyzstan. It will have 18 stations, 81 large and medium bridges, and 41 tunnels, totaling 146.49 km.
Based on preliminary forecasts, cargo transportation could potentially increase to 12-15mn tons per year. Additionally, it's possible that the route from East Asia to the Middle East and Southern Europe could be shortened by around 900 kilometers, resulting in a time reduction of up to 7-8 days.
