Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, has announced that Linda Yaccarino, former director of sales at NBCUniversal, will become the new CEO of Twitter.
Musk expressed his excitement about the new appointment and stated that Yaccarino will focus on business processes while he will concentrate on new technologies and product design.
Yaccarino was born in New York in 1963 and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1985 with a degree in humanities and telecommunications. She started her career as an intern in the media planning department of NBCUniversal and went on to work at Turner Entertainment as executive vice president and later as chief operating officer of advertising sales.
She returned to NBCUniversal in 2011 and held various leadership positions in sales, cable TV, digital advertising, advertising, customer service, and partnerships in the global advertising department. She played a vital role in the launch of the ad-supported Peacock streaming service and oversaw broadcasts of major sporting events like the Super Bowl and the Olympics. Yaccarino has also partnered with tech giants such as Snapchat, YouTube, and Twitter.
During her tenure at NBCUniversal, Yaccarino's team generated over $100bn in ad sales, according to The Wall Street Journal.
