The "Uzbekistan. Generating Ideas" international forum was held in Paris on April 23, and was attended by more than 200 successful compatriots from various fields around the world, as well as leading representatives of the creative and media industry of Uzbekistan.
The main topic of the forum was the drying up of the Aral Sea and the Aral Sea region. To raise awareness on this issue, the non-governmental non-profit organization "Aral Dream" presented the "Salty Lives" project, which features a photo exhibition by Mukhlisa Azizova, a short film by Rustam Meliyev, and an exhibition of clothing models inspired by the Aral Sea.
The project aims to draw global attention to the impact of climate change on the women of the Aral Sea region, one of the most vulnerable areas affected by climate change.
The first part of the project includes an exhibition of portraits of women from Karakalpakstan, taken by Azizova and Meliyev in the salt fields of Barsakelmes. The photos are displayed in an installation by artist Abdurahman Mukhamdiyev and adorned with fishing nets.
The second part is a short film featuring the heroes of the photo exhibition, along with a monologue by a Karakalpak mother. The third part is a collection of clothing models created by leading designers and fashion designers of Uzbekistan.
Aral Dream non-governmental non-profit organization aims to raise awareness about the ecological tragedy of the Aral Sea and the people of the Aral Bay region and Karakalpakstan, which has been largely forgotten by the world community. They also aim to develop human potential in the region, particularly in the creative industries. The organization has previously created a clip called "Ertangi kun" and the film "Sho‘rxok" to bring attention to the issue.
