"O'zsuvtaminot" signed documents with the German KfW bank for a total of €200mn to improve drinking water supply and wastewater services in Surkhandarya and Fergana regions, the organization's press service reports.
In particular, a memorandum of understanding, a "Road Map" and a Grant agreement were signed on attracting €130mn of loans and €70mn of grant funds.
Among these:
- €126mn — development of drinking water and wastewater systems in the cities of Kokand and Margilan;
- €34mn — improvement of the wastewater system of the city of Termez;
- €30mn — construction of a wastewater system in district centers of Surkhandarya region;
- €10mn — to support the KfW bank's projects in Uzbekistan.
Also, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the company Aqua Consult Ingenieur GmbH, which envisages the implementation of the project "Construction of wastewater systems in 6 district centers and towns of Samarkand region".
A memorandum of understanding was signed with the German Water Partnership company aimed at the development of mutual cooperation. According to this memorandum, on the basis of new innovative technologies that save water and electricity introduced in the field, it is expected to increase management efficiency and reduce water losses and electricity costs by at least 3-4 times.
At the same time, in cooperation with the Federal Environment Agency (UBA), an agreement was reached on annual medium-term training courses and internships in Germany for training and upgrading the skills of industry specialists.
At the end of April, the acting mayor of Tashkent Shavkat Umurzakov, and officials of Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company (ADSSC) discussed the issue of a new facility to be built to collect and treat wastewater. The 2-stage project allows the collecting and cleaning of 1.5mn m³ of waste per day.
Also, geo-information and SCADA rapid dispatch control systems will be introduced in the digitization of drinking water supply and wastewater systems in Uzbekistan.
