The construction of the Kuryk-Zhetybay freeway is 50% complete. The builders promise to commission 40 km of the road, an important transport corridor for shipment from Uzbekistan and Russia to the seaport of Kuryk. Before the drivers had to drive through Aktau, but now they can get to the sea harbor via the village of Zhetybay, Khabar 24 website informs.
The road from Kuryk to the village of Zhetybay is 64 km and needed reconstruction for almost half a century. All this time, residents of settlements complained about impassability and frequent accidents.
Zhantas Moldabaev, chief engineer of the contractor:
“About 6 billion 400 million tenge was spent on the reconstruction of the highway. In addition, we promise to complete the construction of a bypass road from the village of Kuryk by the end of next year, spending 4 billion 700 million tenge in 2024.”
The local road engineers are closely monitoring the quality of laying the roadway.
Merey Aliyev, engineer of the National Center for the Quality of Road Assets:
“We carry out road diagnostics of the vehicles with laser devices to fix flaws. Scanning is done by several cameras. They determine the correct location of road signs, markings, road surface and much more.
With the help of a mobile laboratory, it is possible to diagnose 100 km of the route in 4 hours. Without digital technology, it took several weeks. By the way, the final road of 64 km will be put into operation in 2024. Then the specialists of the center will check her condition regularly.”
