Uzbekistan and China have signed a memorandum of cooperation worth $40 million to develop the biotechnology sector, press service of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation reports.
The memorandum was signed on April 28 during the II Tashkent International Investment Forum between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation and Guangzhou Youdi Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
It has two stages. The first stage will involve the production of biotechnological products at an existing site, while the second stage will include the construction of a factory for the production of laboratory reagents and equipment. The cooperation will also include research work in biotechnology, the exchange of innovations and technologies, as well as organizing scientific and practical conferences, forums, seminars, exhibitions, and competitions.
The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, Ibrahim Abdurahmanov, signed the memorandum on behalf of Uzbekistan, while Li Laiqing, the head of Guangzhou Youdi Biotechnology Co., signed for China. China has agreed to invest $40 million for joint activities until 2027 as part of the memorandum.
