The UK ambassador to Uzbekistan, Tim Torlot, has confirmed that the UK has a robust and flourishing relationship with Uzbekistan. Both countries work closely in various sectors, such as security, education, trade, economic governance, climate change, and private sector development, media reports.
The UK government's "Effective Governance for Economic Development" (EGED) program is a flagship initiative that supports Uzbekistan's governance and private sector development. The program offers assistance in labor code and labor relations policy design and implementation support, public procurement reform, green transition support, governance and restructuring of state-owned enterprises, urban development, housing policy reform, measuring informality, and e-commerce development.
Moreover, the UK government supports Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). It has established a collaborative program with USAID to help textile and agricultural businesses export their products to the UK markets.
