Dauren Makin was sentenced to seven years in prison. The suspect believes that the publication of sketches of his drawings and posts on social networks became the basis for a criminal prosecution, the Daryo correspondent in Kazakhstan reports with reference to KazTAG.
Makin is accused of promoting terrorism in Astana. He was tried for posts on social networks. After the events of January 2022, sketches of his drawings were published by Novaya Gazeta. According to the defendant, this became a prerequisite for criminal prosecution.
The artist himself does not consider himself guilty and intends to appeal the verdict to the court of appeal.
