Kazakhstan intends to raise electricity tariffs in the coming summer, the country's Minister of National Economy Alibek Kuantyrov told the media.
'In the summer, it is planned to raise tariffs by 10-30% depending on the region. Ekibastuz has announced a 108% tariff increase, and we can't do that. We reduced and discussed several times; tariffs should be comfortable for the population. At the same time, we should use resources sparingly', Aibek Kuantyrov noted.
The Minister said there would be a certain cascade threshold, where 'above-average consumption would envisage another electricity pricing,' and the raise would depend on the level of the deterioration of the networks.
'Plus, another reason the tariffs would increase this year is that they will raise the salary of housing and communal services employees, comprising several hundred thousand,' he added, emphasizing that ordinary locksmiths and plumbers must carry out quality work on replacing networks, depending on our safety.
