Educational institutions and libraries in Kyrgyzstan are set to receive 1mn publications and comics from Kyrgyz writers and artists, Kabar reports with a reference to deputy director of the "Okuu Keremet!" Nurgul Toktogulova.
During its implementation, 80 authors and 35 artists were selected. They took courses in book publishing techniques and learned how to create children's literature.
Since 2020, some 1,300 titles of various genres of children's literature have been reportedly released. The majority of books are said to instill basic values of friendship, family, purposefulness, and respect for elders in young people.
The project itself will improve reading skills and develop mathematical abilities for about 450,000 secondary school students in the Kyrgyz Republic. Currently, it operates in 1,682 educational institutions in the country.
