The Muslim Board of Uzbekistan has made its final decision to celebrate Eid al-Fitr (Ramadan Eid ) on Friday, April 21.
The special working group of the Board was gathered to determine the end of the month of Ramadan and Eid based on the prestigious astronomy centres abroad and the Institute of Astronomy under the Academy of Sciences which showed the new moon phase (crescent) of the month of Shawwal 1444 Hijri on Thursday, April 20, at 09:12 Tashkent time.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the decision on the celebration of Ramadan Eid. This was reported by the President's press service.
In accordance with the Presidential decision, April 21 will be celebrated in the country as the holiday of Eid al-Fitr, and April 24 (Monday) has been designated as an additional day off for all employees to widely celebrate the most important religious holidays in Uzbekistan.
Thus:
- April 21, Friday — Eid al-Fitr holiday;
- April 22, Saturday — an additional day off for employees of a 6-day work week;
- April 23, Sunday — the regular day off;
- April 24, Monday — will be a day off for everyone who works 5 days a week to be offset by another day, i.e., April 29.
Special bus routes are organized in connection with Ramadan Eid prayer in the mosques of Tashkent city, and the work schedule of the Tashkent metropolitan area changes during the days of Ramadan Eid.
